About these axolotl pages
Axolotls are real salamanders from lakes near Mexico City, famous for their feathery gills and permanent smile. These pages show them in all their cuteness: smiling, holding a heart, eating a strawberry, sleeping on a cloud, wearing a little hat, and swimming in an aquarium and a lily pond. A detailed patterned axolotl is included for older kids.
Pet axolotls are often pink with darker pink or red gills, but wild ones are usually dark brown or greenish with speckles, and there are gold and white ones too. Color the gills a brighter shade than the body to make them stand out.
