About these mandala pages

A mandala is a round design that repeats around its center, ring after ring. That repetition is what makes mandalas relaxing to color: once you pick colors for one petal, you can carry the same pattern all the way around, or change it ring by ring.

The easy mandalas here have thick lines and a handful of big shapes, so they work for children from about age 4 and for anyone who wants a quick, calm page. The medium designs add more rings and smaller petals for ages 7 and up. The detailed ones have hundreds of small spaces and thin lines; they are best for teens and adults with fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils.

A simple approach that always looks good: pick three or four colors, color the center first, and work outward one ring at a time, alternating light and dark colors so each ring stands out. Coloring the same mandala twice with different color schemes is also a nice way to talk about warm and cool colors with kids.

Every mandala on this site is an original design generated from geometric rules, so you won't find the same page anywhere else.
