Outline of the flag of France, the French flag, to color

France flag coloring page

France's tricolour has three equal vertical bands of blue, white and red, with blue next to the pole. The colors came from a revolutionary cockade, and a version by painter Jacques-Louis David was adopted in 1794. Except for a royal white flag from 1815 to 1830, it has flown since.

About the flag of France

What it means: Blue and red are the traditional colors of Paris, and white was long a French royal color. Lafayette described the white as the ancient French color added to the city's colors.

Did you know? The first version of the tricolour, approved in 1790, had the red stripe nearest the flagpole instead of the blue.
