About these thanksgiving pages
These pages cover the whole holiday, from the kitchen to the dinner table to the pumpkin patch. The easy pages (a round turkey, a pumpkin pie with a slice cut out, an ear of corn, a basket of apples, falling leaves and a kawaii acorn and pumpkin) have thick lines and big spaces for ages 3 to 6. The medium pages are scenes: the Thanksgiving dinner table, a child baking a pie, a scarecrow in a pumpkin patch, a bear family's harvest feast, a squirrel with an acorn and a giant turkey balloon floating down a parade route. The detailed pages, a harvest mandala, a zentangle pumpkin, a patterned maple leaf, a farmhouse and barn and an overflowing cornucopia, are made for older kids, teens and adults.
Fall colors work best here: orange, deep red, gold, brown and a little green. For leaves, try blending yellow into red the way real leaves turn. The cornucopia, or horn of plenty, is a basket shaped like a horn and stands for a good harvest, so fill it with as many fruit colors as you like.
A few ideas for the day itself: print a stack for the kids' table while dinner cooks, color the table-setting page and use it as a place card, or cut out the middle of the fall wreath and hang it on the door. For more, see the turkey pages.
