About these turkey pages
Turkeys are the star of Thanksgiving, and these pages show them every way from silly to lifelike. The easy pages (a handprint turkey, a baby turkey in the grass, a turkey waving hello and a turkey in a scarf) have bold outlines for ages 3 to 6. The medium pages put turkeys in scenes: walking through the forest, posing with pumpkins, jumping in a leaf pile and standing in front of a barn. The detailed pages, a realistic wild turkey, a strutting turkey, a zentangle turkey and a turkey mandala, are for older kids, teens and adults.
A male turkey is called a tom and a baby turkey is called a poult. When a tom puffs up and spreads its tail into a fan, it's called strutting. Wild turkeys have dark bronze and copper feathers with white or tan tips, so layering browns with a little orange and gold looks most natural. For cartoon turkeys, a rainbow tail is half the fun.
The handprint turkey is a classroom favorite: have kids color the printed one, then trace their own hand on the back to make a matching turkey. For more holiday pages, see the Thanksgiving collection.
